Continuing the theme of new products and features announced by Microsoft during yesterday’s plenary presentation at the Build developers conference 2016, not to mention Microsoft Bot Framework, and new features in Skype. Let’s go in order.
Microsoft Bot Framework is a set of tools, using which, it is claimed, anyone can create their own robot companion. To demonstrate the capabilities of the platform Bot Framework, Microsoft has created a chat bot for Domino. In this example, the chat-bot for Domino software giant demonstrated the possibility of replacing the standard forms for ordering goods or services online more advanced conversational interfaces. This vision places the chat-bots to today’s Internet was outlined before, but Microsoft wants to give everyone the tools to create these robots.
The “brain” for these bots provided by Microsoft will serve as a “cognitive micro-services” — small portions packaged intelligence that will enable robots to understand human language. The base of the platform are old and new developments of Microsoft. It is reported that the number of APIs available for developers increased from 5 to 22. They will all be available for free.
Created using Microsoft Framework Bot bots can easily be added to Skype, Slack, Telegram and many more apps. By the way, already very soon will appear in Skype’s tight integration with voice assistant Cortana.
Using the capabilities of Cortana, Skype users will be able to perform actions such as ticket booking, shopping, planning personal schedules, etc. Also mentioned the possibility of Cortana interaction with other bots, such as bot service delivery. Actually, Skype Cortana will always know the user needs, find the right bots, and then remove them from your contact list. Aside from chat bots Skype will also receive a so-called videobot. Development tools chat bots already available for developers, and videobuy, reportedly, is already running.
